Chrome Extension Manual Installation (Chrome Browsers)
Cyberhaven supports manual installation of the Chrome extension on individual Chrome browsers when a managed deployment (GPO, Intune, Chrome Browser Cloud Management, etc.) is not available. Installing the extension in other Chromium variants is possible, but it is a customer-managed scenario that falls outside Cyberhaven’s support scope.
note
Note This article focuses on Chrome. For guidance about loading the extension into other Chromium browsers, review .
Prerequisites
- Cyberhaven Sensor installed on the endpoint.
- Access to the Cyberhaven Chrome extension listing on the Chrome Web Store.
- Sufficient permissions to install browser extensions; managed Chrome instances may block manual installation, requiring assistance from your IT administrator.
Installation
- Open the Chrome Web Store listing at
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/Cyberhaven%20security%20extension%20V3/pajkjnmeojmbapicmbpliphjmcekeaac. - Select Add to Chrome and confirm the prompts to complete the installation.
- Verify installation by confirming the Cyberhaven extension appears in the extensions list (
chrome://extensions); optionally pin it to the toolbar for quick access. - (Optional) Enable private browsing support by opening the extension details page and allowing the extension to run in Incognito/Private windows if your policy permits it.
Unsupported browser deployment and limitations
- Installing the extension in non-Chrome Chromium browsers (for example, Brave) is a customer-managed process. Contact Cyberhaven Support to tag the browser as known in the backend configuration before telemetry is reliable.
- Chromium variants change frequently, so behavior may vary. Retest after browser updates and reinstall the extension if necessary.
- Customer-managed deployments are responsible for manually managing and distributing future extension updates; consider establishing an internal process to refresh the extension periodically.
For enterprise-managed deployment methods (GPO, Intune, Chrome Browser Cloud Management, and more), see Chrome Browser Extension Installation.
Installation Verification
- On endpoints, check
chrome://policy(Reload Policies) andchrome://extensionsfor the Cyberhaven extension. - In the Console, verify endpoints reflect the extension state after policy sync.
